Getting into the Details of Amazon Warehouses in Hawaii

As you can see from the table, most Amazon warehouses in Hawaii are located in Honolulu, the state capital. The state has only one official Amazon facility and the rest are third-party warehouses. Here are more details:

1. Amazon Delivery Station/Distribution Center, Honolulu County – DHI2

Address: 2101 Auiki St, Honolulu, HI 96819, United States

In 2020, Amazon purchased a 50-acre land in Honolulu to build its very first warehouse in Hawaii. Initially, the company plans to establish a distribution facility covering 14 acres of area. Later on, it will launch another delivery station where Amazon-branded vehicles will be available for delivery.

The warehouse started operating as a distribution center in April 2024. As of now, the three-story facility houses about 500 warehouse workers and 250 delivery service associates. 

Depending on the position and work hours, employees get $15 to $21 per hour. Although delivery drivers aren’t appointed directly by Amazon, they can earn around $23.

As Amazon packages are shipped in Hawaii by air, the warehouse doesn’t store or deliver bulky items. Most of its products include pet food, beauty and healthcare items, and products by Apple. 

Amazon already built several Amazon Air Hubs in the states surrounding Hawaii from where orders fly in. After that, the packages are picked up by the company-appointed trucks and sent to the DHI2 warehouse. 

Once inside the warehouse, the workers sort the packages and store or pack them as necessary. From downtown Honolulu, you can get to the distribution center in 10 to 15 minutes.

2. Amazon Third-party Distribution Center, Honolulu County

Address: 819 Moowaa St #106, Honolulu, HI 96817, United States

Before making its own warehouse, Amazon depended on third-party facilities like the Hawaii Distribution Center (HDC) to pick, process, and ship orders. 

Inside an HDC warehouse, orders are packed and delivered by the company employees. Therefore, the workers don’t get high pay rates and additional benefits that Amazon associates enjoy.

Although many different e-commerce companies take services from HDC, reviews for the warehouse aren’t widely positive. 

Most customers complained about late delivery and their packages being left in the storage facility for days. It only takes 10 minutes to get to the warehouse from downtown Honolulu.

3. Amazon Third-party Warehouse, Honolulu County 

Address: 94-1420 Moaniani St, Waipahu, HI 96797, United States 

Another third-party Amazon associate, Smart Warehousing provides logistics and order fulfillment services for Amazon customers in Hawaii. The warehouse team provides real-time data so that FBA sellers can track their packages and relevant activities. 

As the company’s Hawaii warehouse is smaller than a typical Amazon facility, it doesn’t handle bulky items. Nothing much is known about the employee salaries or delivery process. 

However, according to the worker reviews, the pay rates are good, but the management has some major communication and favoritism issues. If you take a traffic-free route, it will take only 17 minutes to get to the warehouse from the city center.

Thankfully, Amazon has taken several new initiatives to improve its services in Hawaii and launch more warehouses. The company will be signing new deals with Hawaii Airlines to expand its mark and bring in new vehicles. 

Some sources also suggest that a new Amazon fulfillment center is also coming to Honolulu Harbor. As of now, Amazon customers and FBA sellers can order or fulfill their deliveries through Pop-Up Makeke.
